Why We’re Addicted To Polygel
Hey Brooklyn Beauties, Polygel has exploded onto the nail scene this past 12 months and has been labelled the most exciting innovation to hit the industry since gel polish. At Brooklyn Beauty Bar we’ve been getting a lot of questions from all of you about the new Polygel system, so here is everything you need to know.
What is Polygel? It’s a new nail system that combines the best attributes of hard gel and powder acrylics. PolyGel is more flexible than acrylic, stronger than hard gel, and lighter than both.
What’s so good about it? Its unique formula provides a strong, durable, yet flexible nail extension or overlay for the wearer. It’s 23% lighter than traditional acrylics and 16% lighter than hard gel, giving the client the feeling of wearing almost nothing on their nails.
What are some other benefits? Another key benefit with Polygel is the lack of offensive odour, unlike acrylics, Polygel has a lovely non-offensive smell of cucumber/melon and like Gel, Polygel is cured in a UV/LED nail lamp.
Which will be best for me? If you’re REALLY hard on your nails, I’d probably stick to acrylic. Acrylics are and always will be a staple system in the industry, but for people with thin/flexible nails, the wearer could possibly see lifting from acrylics, due to the product being too rigid and not having enough flexibility to an already naturally thin/flexible nail. Especially if the wearer is not using a cuticle oil daily as part of their aftercare routine.
All nail systems are different just like everyone’s nails, and what suits one person may not suit another. However, with Polygel I find it suits a wider spectrum of people, and is a particularly perfect system for people with naturally thin/flexible nails, who want an overlay over their natural nails for that added bit of strength or to extend the length. We now offer Polygel at Brooklyn Beauty Bar, so if you have any questions about transferring from acrylics get in contact.
